- It feels really nice to be able to join and create your own here in the cultural workshop, says Mara Saroni. Together with her classmates in a sixth-grade class, she participates in one of the first events that "Kulturlöftet" now performs in Sandviken.

- I never do this at home, where the games and the computer apply, says classmate Isak Toprasi when he fetches paint and a brush.

Want to spread it

Elin Folkesson is cultural coordinator in Sandviken and responsible for the "Cultural Promise".

- In the past it has been voluntary to participate. Many classes have done so. Some classes have participated in seven cultural events during one academic year, while others have not participated. Now we want to spread it out so that everyone can take advantage of this, ”says Elin Folkesson. She says that an agreement has also been signed with all free schools and the municipality's schools to participate.

The "Culture Promise" offers at least one cultural event per academic year where students can see and create culture. Sandviken municipality is investing a couple of hundred thousand kronor in the “Cultural Pledge”, including a new cultural service.

All students should be given the opportunity to participate

- Culture is important in Sandviken, says Elin Folkesson, who is glad that you can now reach all the students in the municipality.

- It can be about dance, theater, a concert or the cultural school visiting the class. Or something else the class wants and we try to organize. We now distribute the times for autumn and spring so that all students in Sandviken can have the opportunity to participate, says Elin Folkesson.
