- There were twelve people who locked themselves in and barricaded themselves in a room. They used furniture to smash a window and then went out the window, says Per Ek, head of the press at the Migration Board.

One is cared for in a hospital

The alarm came at 3am on Sunday night. After a police operation, six people were found. Five of them were returned to the repository while one was injured and taken to hospital, with unclear injuries.

- I don't know exactly what happened, says Per Ek.

All twelve are taken into custody and are waiting to have deportation decisions executed. It is not illegal to escape, but the people who are still in the room are now wanted under the Aliens Act.

- They will be taken into custody again if they are visible, says Eva Nilsson, the police spokesperson.

Starts investigation

The Swedish Migration Board will now review the operations after the incident.

- We need to investigate exactly what happened, how it could happen and what we can do in the future to avoid a similar situation, says Per Ek.
