08 September 2019 Pro-democracy activist Joshua Wong, leader of the 'umbrella movement' in 2014, was arrested at Hong Kong airport. He was returning from a trip to Taiwan in violation of the rules of bail, following his arrest in August, which included the obligation to stay between 11pm and 7am.

"I was arrested this morning by police for violations of the bail release conditions and I am currently being held in custody," Wong wrote in a legal message and then released on social media by his political party Demosisto.

Meanwhile, thousands of protesters, waving US flags, march to the US consulate in Hong Kong to ask the Trump administration for help. The march began in the Chater Garden public park, in the business district, before heading to the consulate. In a letter the protesters intend to present to consular officials, the group calls for the approval of the proposed "Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act 2019" by the United States Congress. A marching banner read "President Trump, please free Hong Kong" in English.

Thus Hong Kong enters the 14th weekend of public demonstrations. The siege at the airport for police preventive action, which blocked access to the airport, failed on Saturday. Scuffles were recorded in the suburbs, with protesters meeting in nearby districts, surrounded a police station and built barricades on the main road.
