September 08, 2019It is expected from midnight today the beginning of the first ever strike by British Airways pilots, which has already led to the cancellation of hundreds of flights, distorting the plans of thousands of travelers. The agitation was called for 48 hours by the British Airline Pilots' Association (Balpa), the independent trade union of the category, following the long dispute over wages, with a new strike threatened for September 27, in case the dispute remains unresolved.

Both the British flag company and Balpa said they were willing to start new negotiations. Despite this, the margins of agreement seem so tight that most of the British flights departing from the UK for tomorrow and Tuesday have already been canceled. British Airways operates over 800 flights in one day and the strike could hit 145 thousand passengers every day.
