Oviedo (dpa) - professional cyclist Sam Bennet won the 14th stage of the 74th Tour of Spain.
The 28-year-old Irishman from the German team Bora-hansgrohe won the sprint from San Vicente de la Barquera to Oviedo after 188 kilometers, ahead of Maximiliano Richeze from Argentina and Belgian Tosh Van der Sande.
About one kilometer before the finish, there was a mass crash, in which several drivers went to the ground. For Bennett it was already the 13th win of the season. The top sprinter had already won the third day of the Vuelta.
In the overall standings, Primoz Roglic continues to lead the way. The 29-year-old Slovenian leads by 2:25 minutes ahead of the Spanish world champion Alejandro Valverde. In third place is Roglic's compatriot Tadej Pogacar, 3:01 behind.
On Sunday at the Vuelta again the favorites for the overall victory are in demand. The 15th stage over 154.4 kilometers from Tineo to the final ascent Santuario del Acebo is waiting with a total of four climbs of the first category.
