Plastic bags, jars and paper packaging. It is the most common rubbish that young people find and clean away from our riverbanks during the project. Last year, around 500 young people from 24 associations took part along the Klarälven and Gullspångsälven and together they collected 9.5 tonnes of garbage.

- There is concrete evidence that sports associations' efforts are good for nature. That is why we are proud that we continue to engage and educate local sports associations to make use of their local environment. By being involved in picking garbage, we contribute to creating positive attitudes in sports youth, says Linnéa Grahn, project manager at Städa Sweden.

Water samples will be taken

A news for this year is that ten specially selected sports associations will take water samples to investigate and analyze the presence of microplastics. Along the Klar River and Gullspångs River, water samples will be taken in Hagfors, Karlstad, Degerfors and Gullspång.
