It was the fourth hearing on Saturday, September 7, of Omar al-Bashir's trial. Dismissed by the army in April, the former president appears for "corruption" after the seizure in his residence of large sums of money in cash. He faces 10 years in prison.

The defense of Omar al-Bashir wants to show above all that the former president has not enriched himself personally. In late August, the former almighty head of state admitted receiving more than 25 million euros from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman . But two witnesses summoned by the defense told this Saturday how, and for whose benefit, the distribution took place.

The first witness was General Yasser Bashir, a former adviser to the president. He explained to the court that he personally received $ 5 million for General Mohammed Hamdan Daglo's dreaded Quick Support Forces , known as "Hemeti".

He would have handed over this money to the brother of the one who is now a member of the Sovereign Council, and who was a key man in the removal of the old regime.

The other witness was a representative of the African International University of Khartoum. He says he received 4 million euros from his deputy, who himself said he held the money from the presidency.

As usual, Omar al-Bashir let his lawyers do without comment. The next hearing is scheduled for September 14th.
