The first president since the independence of the country, he was 95 years old. "It is with great sadness that I announce the death of the founding father of Zimbabwe," President Mnangagwa wrote on Twitter. Mugabe led Zimbabwe from 1980 to 2017, when he was overthrown by a military coup.
