20 April 2018To reveal what he knows about the disappearance of diamonds for a total value of 15 billion dollars, ex-president Robert Mugabe was summoned by a parliamentary committee of Zimbabwe for 9 May. This was announced by the site of the local newspaper the Herald, citing the president of the Mining and Mining Development Commission, Temba Mliswa.

The convocation aims to highlight how the autocrat himself had come to indicate the very high figure in February 2016. It was "decided to summon former president Mugabe to our committee to explain the disappearance of 15 billion dollars in diamonds" said the deputy to the government newspaper yesterday.

The disappearance of diamonds would be due to "corruption" and "foreign exploitation" as reported by the same Mubage two years ago, recalls the site The Zimbabwe Mail, relaunching the news.

Mugabe, 94, had led the southern African country since 1980 before being forced to resign last November from a military intervention and a political uprising of his party, Zanu-Pf, which did not want a continuation of his rule through wife Grace.
