Brussels (AP) - Malaika Mihambo has secured the overall victory in the Diamond League as the first German long jumper. The European champion won the final in Brussels with 7.03 meters and cashed as a victory bonus $ 50,000 (about 45,300 euros).
Mihambo also remains unbeaten in their ninth competition of the season with their triumph at the Athletics Meeting at King Baudouin Stadium - for the sixth time, the 25-year-old flew more than seven meters from the LG Kurpfalz.
Mihambo is also the big gold favorite at the World Championships from 27 September to 6 October in Doha / Qatar. She also ensured the ninth German discipline overall victory in the 2010 founded super series of the World Association IAAF. Second in Brussels was world champion Brittney Reese from the US with 6.85 meters ahead of British multi-champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson (6.73). Mihambo would have won with each of her three valid attempts.
