Last Monday when the venture started we talked about Fredrik Gunnarsson. He experienced shortcomings in his former workplace and who dared to lift them in the media. It all resulted in Fredrik being silenced.

A news that had a major impact was that of Region Västerbotten's loyalty document where employees were asked not to speak badly about the employer. P4 Västerbotten's disclosure caused the region to back down.

Norran told, among other things, that smaller municipalities in the county find it problematic to end up in the media shadow. This has a negative impact on democracy, for example, says Robertsfors Municipal Councilor Patrik Niisson (S)

In an article series published by the Västerbotten Courier, the magazine has investigated the culture of silence in the public sector and talked to both municipal managers in the county and municipal employees.

Here, employees say that they would rather refer to their manager than talk to a journalist when there is a concern about saying wrong, giving their workplace a bad reputation or feeling uncomfortable.

During the latter half of the week, all the editors reported how the number of journalists in the county is decreasing while the number of communicators is increasing.

Folkbladet illustrated this by telling us about the change of the police, where both the police and the journalist thought that the personal contact disappeared.
