The hunter and the injured hunting colleague were questioned by the police and a technical investigation was carried out at the scene of the accident. The accident site was also investigated with a specially trained gun dog in the hope of finding the sleeves from the total four shots fired.

- We had wanted to find the sleeves in order to be able to judge the hunters' respective positions when the shots were fired, says crime inspector Anders Svensson, but unfortunately we did not find any sleeves.

Darkness is an aggravating circumstance

The hunters fired two shots each. They had reasoned about safe positions but are believed to have moved on as the accident could have occurred. Darkness has been an aggravating circumstance.

- He realizes that his other shot has hit the hunting buddy but he can't explain how, says Anders Svensson.

The hunter has been served on suspicion of gross negligence for bodily harm but denies crime.

The injured hunter is still being treated in hospital.
