• Health alert: Health will analyze the cases of listeria since 2018

The Facua-Consumers in Action association has warned that a seven-month-old baby died last February at the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville after five days fighting for his life as a result of listeriosis and that his mother had consumed Mecha meatloaf in December .

In addition, in a press release, Facya points out that the parents have asked him to represent them in the criminal case against Magrudis opened in the Court of Instruction number 10 of Seville and that the family wishes to remain anonymous.

Thus, he explains that the two parents consumed La Mechá meatloaf in the celebration of New Year's Eve 2018 with three other couples and "both began to suffer different symptoms shortly after". A relative had bought several pieces of the product, which was also consumed in another home, where about half a dozen people subsequently suffered from diarrhea and other symptoms.

He adds that the mother "began to suffer the symptoms on January 2, and that on the 13th she entered a public hospital in the province of Seville with diarrhea, vomiting and severe stomach pains, discharging her on 15". "On 19 he returned to the hospital with contractions, was prescribed a drug to stop them and returned home," he says.

And he adds that on January 27 he went back to the hospital and "was referred in a Mobile ICU to the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital , and that same day he was removed amniotic fluid and the culture tested positive for listeriosis." "She gave birth on January 28, in her 29th week of pregnancy, but the baby died on February 2 in the hospital, she says.

Thus, notes that the parents "requested this Thursday at the Virgen del Rocío Hospital to investigate whether the bacteria that caused the death of their son is of the same strain found in the products of Magrudis ", every time he says that the doctor who attended them told them that, after their request, "they would proceed to perform the analyzes."

Facua states that shortly after the Ministry of Health of the Junta de Andalucía announced that all cases of listeriosis registered in 2018 and 2019 will be subject to analysis to determine which strains each corresponds to.
