by Tiziana Di Giovannandrea 06 September 2019The 41st edition of the Forum Ambrosetti in Cernobbio has started. Over 200 entrepreneurs are present at the Forum 'The scenario of today and tomorrow for competitive strategies' organized by The European House - Ambrosetti.

The participants in the forum pressed by the first televoting, which investigated their main concerns, highlighted what are the factors that will have a greater impact on global stability. They are: trade protectionism, the migrant question and populism.

The duties undoubtedly greatly concern the entrepreneurs gathered in Cernobbio for the Ambrosetti Forum. According to 63.4% of participants the implications of trade protectionism will have the greatest impact on global stability. In second place of the survey there are migrants and border control, indicated by 40.9% of entrepreneurs. Further back the spread of populism in Europe (38%) and cyber and fake news threats (36.6%). Other elements such as Chinese economic hegemony (28.2%) are much more detached.

There were few fears on the part of the interviewees that they could indicate three preferences, regarding US tensions and Iran in the Gulf: a danger for 16.9% of the audience. The frictions of Europe with Russia account for 11.3% of preferences; instead the expected impact of the spread of jihadism in unstable states is very low. Fears for anti-Chinese protests in Hong Kong are almost null, indicated only by 4.2% of entrepreneurs.

On the other hand, the expectations of entrepreneurs are worsening and the estimates for 2019 are declining in terms of turnover and employment. Holds investment propensity. Compared to last year, the over 200 entrepreneurs show a drop in the performance of their companies. If in 2018 it was 74.2% to judge positively, this year the percentage dropped to 60.1%. As for employment, staff growth forecasts also show downward indices.

Regarding the new government and relations with the business world, the president of Fincantieri, Giampiero Massolo, on the sidelines of the Ambrosetti Forum highlighted how the new Executive said: "We expect attention for the real economy, for the industry and for the opportunities that may derive from the development of the industry for employment and the socio-economic balance of the territories. We expect - added Massolo - that the government will help the industry to develop, to work, favoring the capacity the country's export, thus supporting the export of industrial products, investing in process simplification, training and technological development - all this - he concluded - is very urgent, beyond the words and formulas that are often used but without giving substance ".
