With 340 number of reported rescue operations, Östergötland comes in sixth place out of the country's 21 counties. But in terms of the number of rescue efforts per 10,000 inhabitants, Gotland comes out on top, with 88 efforts.

Bee-friendly plantings and wild bee hotels

Letting a piece of the lawn grow and become so-called meadow land is one of the measures taken. Bee-friendly plantings and wild bee hotels are other efforts that individuals can make to support endangered pollinators.

Knowledge about the bees' threatened situation is greater and more efforts are being made, the Nature Conservation Association writes in a press release.

- There is a great commitment around the country after all the alarms about insect death and species extinction. Many people want to help reverse that development, says Karin Lexén, Secretary General of the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation.

In the country as a whole, more than 10,000 rescue efforts have been carried out for the bees. The majority of efforts are made by the residents of Gnesta, Skinnskatteberg and Norrtälje.
