On July 15, a collision between a TER and a car cost the life of a 37-year-old maternal assistant, her eleven-year-old daughter and two three-year-old children she was babysitting.

Since the start of the school year, no school bus borrows the crossing of Avenay-Val-d'Or, in the Marne, where on July 15 a collision between a TER and a car had killed four, said Thursday the community concerned.

The three students living in Mutigny, above Avenay-Val-d'Or, will be transported morning and evening to the college of Ay-Champagne by taxi, said Dominique Lévêque, Mayor of Ay-Champagne and President of the community common of the Great Marne Valley. "It is difficult to pass school buses on this level crossing until the conclusions of the ongoing judicial investigation are known," said Dominique Lévêque, adding that it is simpler to resort to the taxi.

The preliminary investigation into X's manslaughter continues to determine the cause of the accident, which claimed the lives of a 37-year-old maternal assistant, her eleven-year-old daughter and two three- and one-year-old children she was caring for. In 2018, crossings cost the lives of 16 people, down from 42 deaths in 2017. France has some 15,000 passages.
