The alarm about the fire came at two o'clock the night until Wednesday. A witness then saw how it burned and sounded an alarm.

The rescue service managed to limit the fire to the garage and no person was injured.

- We did a good job on the site and limited the spread of fire to neighboring buildings. It was smoky in the surrounding area and the garage is completely destroyed, says Håkan Persson interim leader at the rescue service in Västervik.

Recently, there have been several unexplained fires in the area and as there is currently no natural explanation for why the garage started to burn, the police headline the incident as a suspected murder fire.

- We label it as an arson fire, so we have to go back when it has cooled down to do an investigation. After all, we have had several fires before suspected incidents and now we have no natural explanation for why it started to burn, says Christer Karlsson, on-duty investigative leader at the Kalmar police.

At 5:30 am, fire extinguishing work was underway at the site.
