The White House correspondent for the magazine Playboy Charm retrieved his accreditation Tuesday allowing him to work in the residence of the executive, which had been suspended last month after an altercation with a former advisor to Donald Trump.

The journalist, Brian Karem, had his pass suspended following a virulent exchange with Sebastian Gorka, former assistant to the US president, at a press conference in July.

White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham then took a penalty in August to suspend for 30 days the permanent accreditation of Brian Karem which gives him access to the White House, accusing him of a lack of professionalism.

But Federal Judge Rudolph Contreras considered that the standards regarding the behavior that journalists should have during the press conference had not been clearly established upstream. He therefore ordered that Mr. Karem immediately recovers his accreditation.

"Ms. Grisham did not warn that an accreditation could be suspended in these circumstances," Judge Contreras said.

Brian Karem had his pass suspended after an altercation with Sebastian Gorka after a press conference in the gardens of the White House at the end of the summit on social networks organized by Donald Trump in July.

On a video turned viral, we see the two protagonists exchange insults at the end of this event.

Many media outlets were concerned by the suspension of Brian Karem's accreditation, who is also an editorialist for CNN.

He welcomed the judge's decision on Tuesday by tweeting "God bless the Constitution and freedom of speech", and thanking his lawyers.

"We are delighted by the order given by Judge Contreras to give Brian Karem his permanent accreditation, thereby protecting the rights of all journalists," Playboy tweeted in the wake.

The White House had already tried to suspend the accreditation of a CNN star reporter last November. Jim Acosta had been ostracized after a tense exchange with Donald Trump during a press conference, but he too had been able to recover his pass for the White House thanks to a favorable court decision.
