“More than half of the cities (57%) with high and very high pollution levels are located in the Siberian Federal District,” the draft state report “On the State and Environmental Protection of the Russian Federation in 2018” posted on the agency’s website says.

It is noted that Abakan, Angarsk, Barnaul, Bratsk, Zima, Irkutsk, Iskitim, Krasnoyarsk are recognized as the cities with the dirtiest air.

Among the cities with the most polluted soil, the cities of Primorsky Krai, Novgorod Oblast and St. Petersburg are named.

Earlier, Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Dmitry Kobylkin announced a shortage of foresters in the country.
