This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press attaché of the Russian Embassy in Tehran, Andrei Ganenko.

“Seven people are really released, this was done at the request of the shipowner, by decision of the captain. Among the seven released, there is one citizen of Russia, an electrician, ”he said.

As noted by Ganenko, the minimum number of crews required for the tanker to enter the sea remained on the vessel.

Tanker Stena Impero under the flag of Great Britain was detained by Iran on July 19. On board were 23 crew members, including three Russians.

Shortly after the detention, the Iranian authorities announced that the crew of the detained ship were healthy and safe.
