“President Sergio Mattarella received Professor Giuseppe Conte, who agreed to head the government and introduced the composition of ministers to the president,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

The talks between Conte and the President of Italy lasted about an hour.

Conte also announced that the Italian Foreign Ministry will be headed by 33-year-old Luigi Di Mayo, who previously served as Deputy Prime Minister.

On August 20, Conte, during his speech in the upper house of the Italian parliament, announced his decision to resign.

On August 29, the Italian president instructed Conte to form a new government.
