“We are fixing a growing wave of thefts through the seizure of accounts on social networks,” the newspaper Izvestia quoted Artyom Sychev, deputy head of the information security department of the Central Bank.

He noted that attackers seize access to the user's page and begin to publish posts on his behalf.

According to him, there have been recorded cases when fraudsters imitated the user's voice, but so far this is "very rare".

It is noted that according to the Central Bank, about 97% of crimes are committed using social engineering methods - misrepresenting a user by fraudsters so that he independently provides the criminal with access to funds - his own or the bank.

On August 20, the press service of the Central Bank commented on the idea of increasing the term for blocking funds to 30 days by Russian banks in cases of suspected fraudulent activity.
