The legend of "Russian intervention" acquires new details. This fact was noted by RT correspondent Murad Gadziev, commenting on the publication of the American publication The Daily Beast. In it, journalists from the United States argue that the history of "interventions" took place back in the days of the communist leader Vladimir Lenin, who was trying to harm the West.

“There are not so many extremely mysterious urban legends in the world: a secret Masonic society, UFOs, the Loch Ness monster, Bigfoot and ... Russian interference. Into the story of him all new intricate details are added. After all, no one will take the storyteller to clean water, ”he said.

The Daily Beast claimed that “Russians have been attacking the United States for hundreds of years,” while Republican leader Senator Mitch McConnell (called “Moscow Mitch” in the article) does not “understand” this.

According to American journalists, Lenin at the beginning of the 20th century sought to “strike at Western capitalism” and, especially, to Great Britain. To this end, the leader of the Communist Party allegedly intended to use "a long campaign of introduction and subversive activity."

“Not scary yet? But in vain. After all, the publication claims that even Lenin did not hesitate to interfere in the affairs of other countries. In fairness, the Daily Beast claims a lot. But, as I said, with each retelling something new is added. In this case, the stories of Russian interventions in the elections were about fifty years old. In addition to the fifty years that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo counted, ”said Gadziev.

Recall, in late April, Pompeo said that Russia has interfered in the US election since 1974.

“Of course (Russia intervened in the 2016 elections. - RT ). As well as the previous ones and those that came before them. I hope I didn’t stop for 2008. Here you can count down from the seventies, ”he said.

Commenting on these words of the US Secretary of State, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that "unfounded accusations" by US diplomats "have never been supported by anything." So, according to the minister, this only confirms the results of the report of special prosecutor Robert Muller and the situation with the Russian Maria Butina.

“But nevertheless, our American partners repeat the mantra, and, sadly, the administration’s official representatives repeat fables, without bothering to present any facts,” Lavrov emphasized.

“Propaganda of the British Empire”

The Daily Beast claimed that Russia “intervened” in the US presidential election in 2016, making Donald Trump “a useful Putin idiot.” At the same time, Moscow, according to journalists, uses the tactics of “interference” developed even under Lenin - looking for points of contention in society and influencing them.

Russia has repeatedly noted the lack of evidence of such allegations. So, Vladimir Putin in the film directed by Oliver Stone “In the fight for Ukraine” noted that the United States is “a huge country, a huge nation with its own problems,” which Trump saw and used to win.

“And no matter what our bloggers, I don’t know who is there, who work on the Internet, no matter how they express their views on the situation in the USA, this could not play a key decisive role. This is bullshit, ”the head of state emphasized.

Murad Gadziev noted that a stylized image of Russia as an octopus was used to denote "interference" both in 2018, and in the 1950s, and even in 1900.

“And how many Russian octopuses do you know?” There is only one. And we would never know about him if it were not for the propaganda of the British Empire, ”RT correspondent emphasized.

Continuing to comment on the publication of The Daily Beast, Gadziev in an ironic vein recalled other “confirmations” of the existence of “Russian interference” in history.

“Do you know that Russia intervened in the American Civil War and sent ships to help the North and Abraham Lincoln? The intervention was so effective that the Americans were truly happy to see these ships. It seems that because of the Russians, not only Hillary Clinton lost the election, but the Confederates lost the Civil War, ”the presenter explained.

Moreover, Gadziev recalled that back in 1789, one of the founding fathers of the United States - Benjamin Franklin - became a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences for "scientific merit."

“Others claim that he handed over the early manuscripts of the US Constitution to his Russian recruiters. Evidence can be found on the hundred-dollar bill. Take a look at Franklin's face - he is not smiling. And it’s well known that Russians, too. Never. They don’t smile, ”says the host.
