The opposition succeeded. The result was expected, especially after Tories member Philip Lee left the ruling party during the day - and with that as seen by the Prime Minister, the majority lost.

This will allow Parliament tomorrow to try to push through the "benn bill" which forces Boris Johnson to request extended negotiation with the EU until the end of January 2020.

What Boris Johnson is doing now is unclear. He has said he does not intend to wait for Brexit anymore - and is expected to try to push through a new election.

- The country wants this to be done now. I am confident that we will arrange an agreement, but regardless, we will leave on October 31, Johnson said in Parliament during the day.

If he is to run through a new election, however, two-thirds of Parliament must vote for it.

- I don't want a new election. But if the MPs vote tomorrow for a point reading extension. Then the only way to solve this, Johnson said after the vote.
