Al Bis Conte will play a stronger role at Palazzo Chigi, without a deputy premier and with a trusted undersecretary to support him (Roberto Chieppa, who could have the upper hand on M5s Vincenzo Spadafora).

At the top of the government, when he will have to mediate between the parties, he will find Luigi Di Maio as the political leader of the M5s and Dario Franceschini, the "chief delegation" of the Democratic Party, as a result of the choice of the secretary Nicola Zingaretti and the step backward of Andrea Orlando.

Di Maio should be foreign minister, the most "weighty" of those on the table (but other hypotheses such as Labor or Defense circulate until the end). Franceschini should return to Culture, a position held in the Renzi and Gentiloni governments (for him too, alternatively, there is Defense). Paolo Gentiloni should be EU commissioner (even if names like Paola Severino or Vittorio Colao are running until the end).

The prime minister in charge is aware of the attention with which the President of the Republic will examine the list of his ministers, especially in the crucial boxes for the economy and international relations: Treasury, Interior Ministry, Defense, Foreign Affairs.

Inside , in particular, it would be a common wish for the prime minister and the Democratic Party to indicate a high level technician, also to prevent the coming months of legislature from turning into a continuous battle with Matteo Salvini on the management of public order and immigration: the prefect of Milan Luciana Lamorgese or the chief of police Franco Gabrielli would be more difficult to attack on the political level.

Another junction of the economy : the first "emergency" of the government is in fact writing Def and budget law, without even having time to fuel. A personality is therefore needed who can dialogue immediately with Europe, in close contact with the Farnesina and Palazzo Chigi, to obtain the possible budget space by keeping the accounts in order. This is why, in a scheme that entrusts the choice of Via XX Settembre to the Democratic Party, all the technical names and only one politician, Roberto Gualtieri, who are liked by so many Dems, remain on the track. Among the short list technicians are Giuseppe Pisauro, Salvatore Rossi (considered by some too rigorous), Dario Scannapieco, Marcello Messori, Pierluigi Ciocca, Fabrizio Pagani.

Throughout the day there are meetings, contacts between diplomacies, political tables called and disjointed. The work is incessant, Conte is absent from Palazzo Chigi for only an hour, probably to go to the barber.

Di Maio also sees his family in Chigi and confirms that he will remain in the government, with two other former ministers, Alfonso Bonafede and Riccardo Fraccaro . The step of Orlando also gives the example to the other heads of chief, on the path of the internal "pax" invoked by Nicola Zingaretti, together with a mobilization of all to strengthen the party. But the battle is in progress: the hypothesis appears that the CGIL reaches the Serena Sorrentino government, but it would be opposed by many. Great attention is also given to the moves of Matteo Renzi, who turns his nose to the idea of ​​Di Maio at the Farnesina and he repeats that if the government is not "of quality" his will help from outside "according to a government formula friend".
