Other participants in the municipal challenge were Västervik, Kalmar, Mönsterås, Söderköpings and Valdemarsvik municipality.

- It was fun that so many people napped to join us and clean our beaches. We have done a great job for the Baltic Sea, says Helene Wertwein Haavikko, environmental manager at Borgholm municipality in a press release.

Among other things, garbage was collected in the port of Borgholm, Kårehamn, Byxelkrok harbor and in Böda harbor.

Behind the challenge is a municipal network with a common map service called Strandstädarkartan, which has funding from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. The map service has been established on the West Coast for several years, and from 2018 onwards also in the Baltic Sea area.
