Mari Heidenborg succeeded former JK Anna Skarhed just over a year ago and has had to take over the legal case between Girja's Sami village and the state.

In the proceedings in the Supreme Court, the lawyers, Hans Forssell and Jonas Löttiger, continue to stand for the state's action. However, they have not wanted to speak outside the courtroom.

In an interview with SVT Sápmi / Sameradion, the Chancellor of Justice is all the more clear with what she thinks of the judgment announced by the High Court in Upper Norrland in January last year. It did give the Sami village a greater right to hunting and fishing, but did not give the Sami village the right to give it to others. The judgment did not consider it incompatible with the law that the state continues to manage hunting and fishing.

In the clip, Mari Heidenborg develops the reasoning about how she views the court judgment and what she hopes for by the Supreme Court.

The legal process has been going on for ten years so far.
