Växjö municipality is one of several municipalities that have caregivers placed on care homes in the municipality of Tingsryd. In July, the accommodation received sharp criticism from Ivo, among other things after reports of sexual abuse that were not reported.

SVT Småland has reviewed the accommodation in several aspects.

Cancels the agreement

The decision to cancel the agreement and move the caregivers was made when the Work and Welfare Committee met on Monday, which P4 Kronoberg was the first to tell.

- We gave them a month's deadline to address the shortcomings and risks that existed. They have not. That is why we are now moving on and canceling the agreement, says Oliver Rosengren (M), chairman of the committee, to SVT.

Växjö Municipality has previously accused the company behind the housing for breach of contract - and then demanded that all deficiencies be remedied. According to Oliver Rosengren, some measures were planned but not yet implemented.

- Given the low confidence we have in them, that's not enough.

Will claim damages

Oliver Rosengren also states that the municipality will claim damages for the additional costs that the move entails.

- The approximate cost increase will be SEK 800,000 in one year. Växjö's taxpayers should not have to pay for it.

In the past, Ronneby municipality has decided to relocate caregivers from the accommodation, while Emmaboda and Oskarshamn have assessed that their users are doing well there.
