The president of the Generalitat, Quim Torra, the leader of ERC jailed for promoting the 1-O, Oriol Junqueras, and the former president of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont have supported on Monday the citizen initiative of response to the ruling of the Supreme Court Tsunami Democràtic.

Through a note in his Twitter account collected by Europa Press, the president has agreed with the initiative that "rights, if not exercised, lose meaning."

"The defense of democracy and our civil, political and social rights, including the right to self-determination must be done every day. We are committed. Luck and forward Democratic Tsunami," he added.

Through the same social network and referring to Tsunami Democràtic, Junqueras has affirmed: "Voting is not a crime! Democracy will prevail above all and we conjure ourselves to defend it! Always!".

Puigdemont has joined the support by stating that "we must recover the initiative and in all areas" and has described it as intelligent.

"The commitment to nonviolence makes us stronger, that no one has any doubt. And yes, now the time for resumption begins," the former president has settled.

In a statement, Tsunami Democràtic is defined as a "constant, continuous and inexhaustible campaign" to respond to the judgment of the 1-O trial in the Supreme through nonviolent civil disobedience.

He maintains that in recent months words such as unity, referendum, democracy, rights and justice have lost meaning, and that "the disorientation and frustration accumulated by the consequences of repression are evident" and can be deepened with the sentence.

Therefore, they bet not to give up in the defense of individual and collective rights: "To generate hope again we need to get moving. The commitment of men and women who for generations have exercised and won their rights in so many struggles we encourage. "

"We will do it peacefully, with serenity and conviction. We will do it democratically, with determination and in an organized manner. Our ideals defend inalienable freedoms and pursue social justice. We use nonviolent struggle and civil disobedience as transformative strategies. No violence , but all the firmness, "he claims.

He also says that they will seek to strengthen a collective and transversal movement, and appeals to the citizens to join: "There is an answer. There is a strategy. A new wave begins and you are the protagonist. You are the Tsunami. Let's change the state of things."

The vice president of Òmnium, Marcel Mauri, has also shown his support on Twitter and the president of the ANC, Elisenda Paluzie, has said: "Let's open a new cycle, recover the initiative, always from nonviolence. Tsunami Democràtic. Objective independence."

Junqueras has also echoed the campaign in the same social network and has predicted that "democracy will prevail above all," calling for "conjuring to defend it."

Other leaders have also cited the initiative on Twitter, including the president of the Parliament, Roger Torrent, the vice president of the Government and deputy chairman of ERC, Pere Aragonès, and the former deputy of the CUP Mireia Boya.

It has also echoed the president of the Catalan National Assembly, Elisenda Paluzie, and the president of Òmnium Cultural, Jordi Cuixart, in pretrial detention awaiting sentencing.
