In the book "My life in the isolated country", she talks about childhood and adolescence in Communism's Albania, where dictator Enver Hoxha ruled.

- Albania was isolated and surrounded by electrical fencing.

Was subjected to sexual abuse

She says that no one was allowed to appear unhappy, even though people did not have food on the plates.

- We would say that we are happy, only here in Albania we are good.

At the same time, there was a strong culture of honor in her family and in the village she grew up in. In the book she gives many examples of the complicated relationship she had with her family - especially her dad. When she was sexually abused, she was severely judged by her family and her surroundings.

- At the age of seven, a boy older than me showed me his jump. Today I am almost full of laughter, but my family took it so hard so I took it hard too.

Fled to Sweden

She became a disgrace to the whole village. Thalia Tatsis Buzo longed for freedom and in 1991 she left the country with her cousin. It was a laborious flight over the mountains to Greece. There she met a man who took her to Sweden.

- He was much older than me, but he was so kind. I wasn't used to it, I was used to tough men. I didn't know a man could smile.

"You have to face the pain to get rid of it"

She lived in Örebro for a few years before moving to Karlstad. She appreciated the freedom in Sweden, but her past experiences came to her, she suffered from mental illness. Writing the book became a way to process what she had been through.

- I felt that from the age of seven I moved away from myself, I had to go back in my past even though I knew it was a pain. You have to face the pain to get rid of it.

Today she is feeling better and she says that she can finally enjoy who she is. She is a trained nurse, but hopes to be able to work in a completely different profession.

- My biggest dream is acting, I've always seen myself as an entertainer, a storyteller.
