It started with a group on social media. Just over two weeks ago it was marched in protest in Lidköping.

- The debate is still alive in my group on Facebook. The engagement lives on even though the demonstration has been, says promoter Emma Larsson.

"Made our utmost"

And now it has also collected names. A total of just over 23,000 signatures.

- I hope we can influence the work we put in. If it does not produce any results, we have done our utmost to try to change the study proposal, says promoter Emma Larsson.

The background is that Skaraborg's four hospitals together need to save SEK 250 million. The protests concern a proposal to remove 21 out of 63 health care facilities at the medical department at Lidköping Hospital and move certain activities to Skövde.

- If 21 care places disappear, which are mostly emergency care places, it will mean a reduction in emergency care. And without an emergency operation at the hospital, it is clearly threatened to shut down.

"Respect that concern"

Pär Johnson (L) is chairman of the board of Skaraborg Hospital. This is how he previously told SVT News West.

- I respect that concern, but there are no plans to move the emergency business in Lidköping. Should there be a direct or indirect effect of removing 21 care places, then we cannot make that decision.

Emma Larsson has now emailed Pär Johnson (L) about the signatures.

- We want to schedule a meeting with him or the entire hospital board so that we can hand over the lists.
