Reykjavik (dpa) - Retailers are no longer allowed to issue plastic or fabric free plastic bags in Iceland today. These include the thin plastic bags, in which fruit and vegetables can be packed in supermarkets, as reported by the RÚV. The parliament in Reykjavik had approved a similar amendment to the ban in May. The Icelandic government wants to use this and other measures to reduce the use of plastic.
