01 September 2019A magnitude 4.1 earthquake was felt at 2.02 between Norcia, Arquata del Tontro and Accumoli, in the same area struck by the earthquake of 2016. That of 4.1, at a depth of 8 kilometers, was the strongest of a series of shocks that the seismographs of the Ingv have begun to record since yesterday evening. No harm, but a lot of fear: people in panic poured into the street.

Many replicas
The earthquake was followed by a few equipped with two 3.2 and 2 magnitude replicas in the same area and preceded last night by another four tremors of magnitude between 2.8 and 2 with epicenter instead near Trevi (Perugia). The tremors of magnitude 4.1 and 3.2, in particular, have been distinctly felt also in the Reatino, where at the moment no damage is reported.

The two main shocks of the seismic sequence in progress in Central Italy are also distinctly felt in the provinces of Ascoli Piceno, Macerata and Ancona, where however no damage is reported at the time. On his Facebook profile, the geologist Emanuele Tondi of the University of Camerino (Macerata) states: "The epicenter area is always that of the seismic sequence that began three years ago. The fault zone is therefore still that of Monte Vettore-Monte Bove "This is a resumption of the sequence, which is always possible and which was not finished at all. In the last three months there have been numerous earthquakes, although many have not perceived them. Unfortunately, the destabilized area is very large and the sequence of aftershocks long. "

The deputy mayor of Arquata: "It will be tough but we won't give up"
"Tonight it will be hard to sleep but we won't give up" The deputy mayor of Arquata del Tronto (Ascoli Piceno), Michele Franchi, comments with the ANSA on the new earthquakes felt in the last hours, including one of magnitude 4.1 with its epicenter between the same Arquata and Norcia (Perugia). In the country of Ascoli, heavily hit by the earthquake of 2016, "there is a lot of fear and all the lights are lit in the houses", says Franchi. At the moment no damage is reported.
