- Germany: Two German states vote with an eye on the extreme right
German conservatives and social democrats remain the first force in Saxony and Brandenburg, respectively, despite the impetus of the extreme right, in the regional elections held today in eastern Germany, according to polls.
According to the polls at the ballot box of public television ZDF, the Christian Merchant Union (CDU) of Angela Merkel would obtain in Saxony 33.5% support - five points less than in 2014 -, while the far right of Alternative for Germany (AfD) would skyrocket at 27.5%.
In Brandenburg, the Social Democratic Party (SPD) would be 26.5%, two points above the ultra-rightists
