At least one person has died and six others have been injured in an attack perpetrated with a knife at a metro station in Villeurbanne, near Lyon, the Rhone region prefecture reported.
One person has been arrested in connection with the events, French media said, adding that all assumptions about the nature of the attack are open, including the terrorist track. The other attacker is being searched by the police and could be armed with a carving fork.
Several subway stations in the city are closed while about 50 firefighters have moved to the site.
