Ethiopia and Israel
In June 2017, former Ethiopian Prime Minister Haile Mariam Dessalin visited Israel at the invitation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

While Netanyahu visited Ethiopia in July 2016 as part of an African tour that also included Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya, he pledged from Addis Ababa to support development projects and modernize agriculture, technological transformation, education, health and livestock in Ethiopia.

For its part, the Israeli Foreign Ministry considered this visit as further evidence of the success of Netanyahu's policy to return to Africa, and the common desire of the two countries to strengthen ties of friendship and deepen bilateral cooperation.

In the past few years, Israel has intensified its contacts with the continent through visits by Netanyahu and African officials to Tel Aviv.
