MSB chief after the power failure on the laser unit: "Important to think about backup solutions"

"We are very vulnerable and need to handle it wisely and such a meeting is part of that process," said Dan Eliasson.

For five hours, the laser machine in Nyköping was without power and could not receive emergency patients. The error was internal to the hospital and showed the vulnerability that exists in the community.

Dan Eliasson says he has had a meeting with the regional council in Sörmland to see what can be learned from the event.

On the day of the crisis, there were representatives from, among others, the municipalities of Sörmland, the Swedish Energy Agency, the MSB, the Police, the emergency services and several voluntary organizations.

- I hope the participants realize what responsibility they have but also that they can work together to prepare for crisis and even war, says Dan Eliasson.
