In this context, the management of the El Gouna Film Festival announced the details of the third edition of the festival, which will take place from 19 to 27 September.

The festival's list included films that won the Cannes International Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival. The announcement included two surprises: one for the selection of an Afghan film, and the other for the guest of honor of the festival and honored this year.

From Cannes and Berlin to El Gouna
El Gouna Festival is characterized by its selection of the best international film festivals, which provides the first opportunity for the Arab public to follow the most important shows at the Cannes, Berlin and other festivals, thanks to this course of the festival director Anchal Tamimi and Egyptian director Amir Ramses, who is currently the artistic director of the festival.

Among the selections this year, there is an intense presence of films screened at the 72nd International Film Festival, featuring nine films, topped by the prize-winning film "Cannes" - the prize for the best film at the festival - "Parasite" ( Parasite by Korean director Bong Joon-ho, a satirical film about a family of unemployed with a complex relationship with a wealthy family, is also the winner of the Best International Film Award from the Munich Film Festival.

As for the films coming out of the Berlin Film Festival, Piranhas, the award-winning silver bear, "Best Screenplay" from the 69th Berlin Film Festival in May 2019, is an Italian film about a group of young people from the city of Berlin. Naples make up gangs trying to control power. "Crasher," the award-winning Silver Bear (special prize) from the Berlin Film Festival, is a German film about a young girl with tantrums that everyone describes as breaking the system.

The diversity of the list of films to be shown at the festival is evident from the Afghan film "Kabul City in the Wind" by Abuzar Amini, which depicts the silence between the explosions taking place in Kabul. Fazeli, a fugitive from Afghanistan after the Taliban sentenced him to death, is about the life of asylum seekers full of distress and surprises.

Disney's new pride
After hosting Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker to be the guest of the festival in its first session, and the famous actor Owen Wilson in the second session, the management of the festival was chosen this time on the Canadian-Egyptian actor Mina Massoud, who increased his international fame this year through the starring of the film "Alaa" Religion "produced by Disney, in which the famous American actor Will Smith participated.

Massoud has relied heavily from the beginning of his appearance on addressing the Egyptian and Arab public in Arabic, where he repeatedly stressed that he was raised on Egyptian art, and that his country is a key component in his personality, and his appearance at the El Gouna festival seems to complement this picture.

Honoring Huneidi and Abdul Quddous
In line with the tradition of the festival, the festival's management has been awarded the Creative Achievement Award for the artist's career each year, an award announced this year to Egyptian actor Mohamed Heneidy and Palestinian director Mai Masri.

It is worth mentioning that the award was given in the first round of the festival to the Egyptian actor Adel Imam, while in the second round was awarded to the American star Sylvester Stallone.

In another way, the festival celebrates the centenary of the great writer Ihsan Abdul Quddus through an exhibition of his most prominent collections, including pieces of personal furniture for his house, certificates of appreciation he received, letters and documents in his handwriting, in addition to some rare pictures.
