Wolf in Edsbyn attacked dog in leash - yes, shelter hunting

The same wolf has previously been seen several times in Edsbyn and nearby villages.

- This wolf has been obscure and been in places where you don't expect the wolf to be. But now it has turned out to be even more obscure and has gone a step further and attacked a dog in a leash. Then the criteria for protective hunting are met, says Sone Persson at the County Administrative Board of Gävleborg.

According to the county administrative board, the dog was bitten in the back, stomach and groin. It also shows the deviant behavior of the wolf, says Sone Persson.

- If I guess, this is a young wolf from last summer that is above. A normal wolf had bitten the dog.

Shady wolves in densely populated areas or at the house knot are nothing unusual in the county, what can we do about it?

- No one can control where the predator goes. But we have a high concentration of predators and not just wolves. When they come to this wolf it does not seem to have found their new territory, says Sone Persson.
