The aim is to create security in the area after the stone throwing of the police over the past weekends.

Now on Friday and Saturday, the municipality of Nyköping has arranged night walks to create security in Brandkärr.

- We have partly issued a general invitation to the public, which is a bit based on that you come if you want. Then we went out with a request to associations where they can receive a contribution to the club cashier for night walks, says Robert Nilsson, safety coordinator at Nyköping municipality.

Sports associations want to contribute

At present, the municipality has made clear with four associations that want to join and create greater security. IFK Nyköping is one of them.

- We show up and try to get young people into our business. Now this summer we have also started a cleaning day where we clean with the young people. We probably contribute a lot and get young people involved in our business. Many young people come from here and are with us, so I think we do well here, ”says Jeremias Varas, football manager at IFK Nyköping.

It's about creating relationships

- The community engagement can be of great benefit in the preventive part. It's about building relationships and trust between children, adolescents and adults, says Robert Nilsson.
