A search for, for example, "measles" or "vaccine safety" on the Pinterest platform will in future lead to information material from, among others, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the US agency Centers for disease control and prevention (CDC), the company says.

Social media companies have been criticized for misleading information about vaccines, among other things, on their platforms, and earlier this year Pinterest blocked temporary search results on the vaccine theme.

The imaging platform has previously taken similar measures, such as linking to suicide guidelines and eating disorders when these themes appeared as keywords. That's what the Verge writes.

Vaccine resistance - serious threat

According to WHO, vaccine resistance is one of ten threats to global health in 2019.

In March, Facebook said it was working to get misleading information about vaccines. However, on Facebook-owned Instagram, it is still possible to search for vaccine-critical content.

Youtube also has limited ads for anti-vaccination films.
