Sharjah Municipality announced that public parking in all areas subject to fees will be free on the first of Muharram next on the occasion of the Islamic New Year.

Ali Ahmed Abu Ghaziz, Director of Public Parking Department at Sharjah Municipality, said that this step comes within the framework of the Municipality's keenness to provide comfort and facilitate the movement of residents and visitors to the emirate during the holidays and events, which reflects the continuous interest of the Municipality to the public from various segments of society.

He explained that all public parking in Sharjah city will be free on the first of Muharram next except areas subject to fees throughout the week and public holidays, namely, Al Hosn Street (Banks Complex) in Al Shuwaiheen and Al Shuyukh areas, and Corniche Street from both sides in Al Shuwaiheen area and Qais bin Abi Sa'asa Street (Bird market) in the Jubail area, and the central market positions in Al Majaz 1, and Corniche Street (the lake) from the side of the lake in the areas of Majaz 1, 2 and 3, and University City Street. The municipality will also continue to monitor those who abuse parking such as double parking and other irregularities.

He called on the public to adhere to the use of public parking in a civilized manner and avoid the wrong parking and adhere to stand in the designated places in order to prevent any traffic confusion, stressing that the municipality inspectors will monitor the use of parking during the holiday, and will be violating the owners of cars that do not comply with the instructions and regulations in force in this area the clock.
