Big problems with game damage - but fewer and fewer solve hunting cards

- We have unacceptable damage both in the fields and in the forest. If you walk around among your fields and look for walks after game, you can already expect a 10 percent drop-out, says Clas Rydberg, game manager in the Sörmland region of the Swedish National Farmers' Association, LRF.

In the area from Östergötland in the south to Gävleborg in the north, there are close to 2,000 fewer hunters who solved the hunting license last hunting year compared to 5 years ago. But the fact that fewer hunters are the cause of the clover game is increasing does not believe the hunters' union.

- My picture is not that it is the lack of hunters that makes it difficult to manage the game trunks, but opposing wills in the game management. And this is what creates conflicts where you can have locally too high game tribes, says Anders Nilsson, deputy national hunting consultant.

Since the game does not know the land boundaries where one neighbor wants a lot of game and the other wants to grow, it has consequences.

- There are big values ​​that disappear, partly trampling injuries and what they eat. It will be wrong when one neighbor has income from the game and the other only costs, says Clas Rydberg, who calls for better cooperation between landowners.

The wild boar, unlike other clover game, is a night-active animal.

- If you want to hunt during the day you need good dogs, otherwise you have to hunt at night so they are a little different in their behavior, says Anders Nilsson.

Clas Rydberg has been hunting wild boar at night since midsummer to protect his crops.

- I still have a burning hunting interest and also hunt during regular hunting time, but the interest cools more and more when there is more job of hunting than hobby, he says.

He is not alone, but gets help from friends, and when it comes to hunting wild boar, the hunting association has instituted wild boar assistance.

- It is a contact function between farmers who need help with wild boar hunting and hunters seeking wild boar hunting. This way you can solve a problem while creating hunting opportunities, says Anders Nilsson.
