- The fact that the fire was set does not come as a surprise. However, I have no idea why anyone would want to do this, says Jill Nielsen, preschool manager at Halmstad's ward.

The home of Preschool is run under the auspices of the Swedish Church. Jill Nielsen himself was there that night as the preschool premises were swallowed up by flames.

- It is sad that the investigation was closed, but I understand why. It's like finding a needle in a haystack, she says.

Renovated premises

When the fire occurred, 30 children attended preschool. They were evacuated to a nearby parish hall. Two days later, two departments were rented at the Aleskogen Pavilion Preschool.

- We soon started with full strength and have been there since the holidays, Jill Nielsen continues.

A room on Bohusgatan in Halmstad has been renovated for some time. On August 5, the preschool business moved in there instead. However, the number of children has been halved.

- Some started elementary school and disappeared naturally. Others had to be relocated to one of our other three preschools and some single children went into municipal activities. So today we have 18 children, says Jill Nielsen, adding that she thinks the situation has resolved in the best way.

Shortly after the fire, the Halmstad Assembly decided that a new preschool would be built where it had previously been. But no first shovel has yet been taken.

Unclear construction start

- We sit with insurance companies, architects and the municipality and plan. So we have started, but it is a slow process with many people involved, says Jill Nielsen.

There is no plan on when the preschool will start to be built.

- But we hope to submit a building permit during the autumn, says Jill Nielsen.
