The jury of the Fnac novel prize, one of the first literary prizes of the season, presented Wednesday its four finalists among which is the Irish novelist Edna O'Brien, 88 years old.

In addition to Edna O'Brien, whose novel "Girl" (translated by Aude Saint-Loup and Pierre-Emmanuel Dauzat) will appear simultaneously in English and French on September 5, three other women were selected by the jury of 400 booksellers and 400 members of the brand.

Here are the four finalists, in alphabetical order of authors:

- Berengere Cournut, "Of stone and bone" (The Tripod)

- Edna O'Brien, "Girl" (Sabine Wespieser)

- Valentine Goby, "Murène" (Actes Sud)

- Monica Sabolo, "Eden" (Gallimard)

Last year, the prize was awarded to Adeline Dieudonné, rewarded for her first novel, "The Real Life" (The Iconoclast).

The name of the laureate will be announced on September 2nd and the prize given by the American writer Bret Easton Ellis on September 20th during the 4th edition of Salon Fnac Livres, which will bring together for three days in Paris many authors including Jonathan Coe, Karine Tuil, Sorj Chalandon, Laurent Binet or Guillaume Musso.
