Christophe Castaner announced Wednesday that he would make "public" the investigation of the Inspectorate General of Administration (IGA), seized after the death of Steve Maia Caniço to understand the conditions of organization of the Music Festival in Nantes, marked by a controversial police operation.

"We will have internally the investigation of the IGA that will be made in a few days, that I will make public and I will draw all the consequences," said the Minister of the Interior on RMC / BFMTV.

The investigation, whose findings are expected on September 4, "is not over yet," said Castaner.

Prime Minister Edouard Philippe announced on July 30th this new investigation "to go further" than the conclusions of the administrative investigation of the IGPN, which could not establish a "link" between the intervention of the police and the disappearance of Steve Maia Caniço.

The IGA is an organ attached to the Ministry of the Interior for which it has a mission of "superior control" including the action of prefects. Regarding the Steve case, she was seized by the government "to understand the conditions of the organization" of the Music Festival.

According to the letter of referral that AFP consulted, the head of the IGA, Michel Rouzeau, is responsible for examining "the arrangements for the preparation of sound system concerts by checking the arrangements made for the safety of participants taking into account identified risks of physical security of the site and dimensioning of the police and rescue devices ".

It is also responsible for studying "information and decision-making circuits between the State services and those of the City of Nantes" for this evening.

In addition to the IGPN and IGA administrative investigations, four other procedures have been initiated.

A judicial investigation against X for "manslaughter" was opened by the public prosecutor of Nantes, entrusted to two judges of instruction who asked the expatriation of the case. The Court of Cassation, seized of this request, will not make a decision before mid-September.

The IGPN is also seized of a judicial investigation after the collective complaint of 95 participants in the evening for "endangering the life of others and voluntary violence by persons holding public authority".

The judicial police of Rennes is also seized of the complaints of ten injured policemen, while the Defender of the rights has autosaisi to investigate the conditions in which Steve Maia Caniço disappeared.
