29 August 20191.02 The petition against the suspension of Parliament, launched after the initiative of Prime Minister Boris Johnson, has reached over one million signatures. The petition asks that the Parliament is not "suspended or dissolved unless and until the period of Article 50 has been sufficiently extended", with reference to the part of the Lisbon Treaty on the ways in which a country can leave 'EU, "or the United Kingdom's intention to withdraw from the EU has been canceled".
