"The United States has become the fourth party to ratify the Agreement on the Prevention of Unregulated Fishing in the High Seas of the Central Arctic Ocean, Following Canada, the Russian Federation and the European Union," the US Department of State said in a statement.

It is noted that the agreement will enter into force after ratification by ten signatories.

The agreement was signed in Greenland on October 3, 2018 by Russia, the USA, Canada, Denmark (on behalf of the Faroe Islands and Greenland), Norway, Iceland, Japan, China, the Republic of Korea and the European Union.

Previously, the Pentagon talked about curbing the "activity of Russia" in the Arctic.
