At the same time, the Minister added that this year forest fires were registered at the rate of 1 million hectares less than in the past, given the controlled forest areas.

On August 8, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev instructed the government to allocate about 6 billion rubles to extinguish forest fires in a number of regions.
