The electric scooters are popular and are everywhere in Stockholm, but accidents happen and there has been criticism that they lie and scrap and are in the way.

Minister of Infrastructure Tomas Eneroth (S) now says in an interview to Dagens industri that the Swedish Transport Agency is looking at regulatory changes.

"There are reasons to act"

“Especially if there is a risk of accidents - more innocent road users are injured. We have received reports that more people are visiting health centers with injuries and then there may be reasons to regulate, ”he says in DI TV.

One problem is that the electric scooters are counted as bicycles and the municipalities then mean that there is no charge for them. According to DI, the Swedish Transport Agency is looking into whether there should be a new type of vehicle regulation suitable for electric scooters.

There are now seven electric scooter companies in Stockholm.
